St. Andrew Fisher of Men Bible & Catechism Study
All men of St. Andrew by the Bay and other parishes are invited to participate in the Fisher of Men Bible & Catechism Study. A group of men come together twice a month to help each other grow as disciples of Jesus Christ, deepen their personal relationship with Him through our Catholic faith, improve their servant leadership and evangelization capabilities by study of the Bible and the Catechism, and share their faith journey, challenges, and prayer.
Meeting time and place: To avoid work and family conflicts, the group normally meets early (8:00 - 9:15 a.m.) on the first and third Saturdays of each month at the parish center. To facilitate participation of men who cannot attend in-person gatherings, we also always offer a virtual connection using Zoom. If a meeting needs to be canceled, it will be noted on the parish online calendar here. If you are interested or need more information, email Bill at bbcummins@verizon.net or Mark at mark.escherich@gmail.com.
Study Guides: With the Bible and Catechism as the primary tool, the group has used various guides to focus their meetings but preparation ahead of time is not needed. The fellowship and faith-sharing at the meetings is as important as the learning that occurs. To guide discussion in the past, the group has used lessons on the Bible and Catechism covering the Search for God, Virtue and the Sacraments, Bishop Robert Barron's study of St. Mark's Gospel, and Scott Hahn's course on Covenant Love: Introducing the Biblical Worldview. We are now currently studying the Creed using a Study Guide for the US Adult Catholic Catechism.
