The Feast of the Holy Innocents, created in remembrance of the massacre of young children by King Herod in his attempt to kill the infant Jesus, is celebrated on Dec. 28. Yearly, our parish uses this Feast as a to remember the death of the unborn, those children lost at childbirth, or the death of young children. Often, families are left to deal with such a loss on their own. People around them aren’t sure how to offer help. As the years go on, the pain and loss remain.
The St. Andrew by the Bay Respect Life Committee offers a brief service every year, to offer our support, and that of your parish. It is a service of solitude, to remember and to remind us that one day we will be together with those that we have lost. We encourage all of our parishioners to consider attending. We especially invite those who have lost children. We welcome everyone, Catholic or not, Parishioner or not.
