Caring for Creation

Franciscan spirituality asks us to let go, to recognize that there is enough to go around and meet everyone’s need but not everyone’s greed

Chapter 6, section 4: Joy and Peace

In this section on joy and peace, Pope Francis encourages a Christian spirituality that includes a "contemplative lifestyle, one capable of deep enjoyment free of the obsession with consumption." He explains: "To be serenely present to each reality, however small it may be, opens us to much greater horizons of understanding and personal fulfilment. Christian spirituality proposes a growth marked by moderation and the capacity to be happy with little (222).

… Happiness means knowing how to limit some needs which only diminish us, and being open to the many different possibilities which life can offer" (223).

Preschool Update

If all goes as planned, St. Andrew by the Bay Preschool will start on schedule in the fall!  Our first day of classes will be Tuesday, September 8.  We are going to be changing things up a little to be in cooperation with social distancing regulations.

  • Teachers will most likely wear masks all day, but definitely at drop-off and pick-up.
  • Drop-off and pick-up will be via parking lot to limit the number of people in the building.
  • Toys and surfaces will be cleaned multiple times a day.
  • Children will practice standing with their arms out to their sides to keep distance between each other.
  • Hand sanitizing stations have been installed in every classroom.

We will have spaces available in our MWT & T/Th 2s, T/Th 3s, and M-F 4’s.  (These are all morning classes.)

Upcoming Dates:

August 26 – Orientation for parents new to the preschool, 6:30pm in the Upper Hall

August 27 – Classroom open houses

September 8 – First day of school for T/Th classes

September 9 – First day of school for MWF classes
