A Letter from Fr. Andrew
Dear Friends,
Thank you all for a very warm and grace-filled welcome to the parish.
I want to thank especially the youth who decorated the walkways for my arrival on campus with words of love and “Welcome to our Home!”
The Holy Spirit filled me with peace and joy through your hospitality.
The staff has been very helpful and patient with me. I am very grateful to them, and to Father Jeff, for them!
I look forward to meeting with the Pastoral council and finance council and others soon, in person or via technology.
Due to Covid, of course we have to be patient with most of our parish life not returning to normal yet.
I do however want to begin offering new, regular times for Confession.
For now I would like to offer the sacrament on Wednesday evenings, 5-6pm, and Saturday mornings, 9-10am.
Outdoor confessions have been popular throughout the country, so I will pick a shady spot somewhere outside the church.
Please excuse my absence from Mass this Saturday evening. I have a friend’s wedding at the Baltimore Basilica.
Father Greg Friedman will be celebrating the Mass with you. Thank you, Father Greg.
I have three more Saturday weddings this summer of some great, young couples. Outside of that, I am here.
Please be assured of my prayers as I begin my ministry to you in the Lord Jesus.
Together we continue to pray for all who are sick, and those seeking a cure to the virus.
And of course we are also praying in earnest for our nation, “with malice toward none, with charity for all.”
With Saint Paul this Sunday, may we who have the firstfruits of the Spirit humbly strive for holiness together.
Saint Andrew, pray for us!

Mass Intentions
We are now able to schedule Mass intentions by phone only (the parish office remains closed to the public). To schedule a Mass intention, please call the office Monday-Friday between the hours of 8:30am-12:30pm. Donations for Mass intentions may be mailed to the office or dropped in the offertory with "Mass Intention" in the memo. We are unable to distribute Mass cards to parishioners at this time; however, parish staff will mail Mass cards directly from the office to the recipient upon request.
ZOOM Conversation on Faith with Fr. Andrew
Fr. Andrew will be joining us next Wednesday, July 15, from 7:00-8:00pm as we talk about PRAYER. We’ll ask, “Who’s talking and who’s listening?” We’ll learn about the rosary. We’ll share some of our favorite ways and places to pray. And we’ll look at some new (?) ways to think about what prayer is and does. Zoom link sent via Flocknote. Contact stephany.crane@archbalt.org for details.
Ministry Leader Meetings
Fr. Andrew is looking forward to meeting with the ministry leaders of our parish ministries. If you are a ministry leader and have not yet had a chance to meet with Fr. Andrew, please contact the parish office at 410-974-4366 to arrange an in-person or virtual meeting.
Homemade Nametags for Mass
Parishioners are invited to make a homemade nametag and wear to Mass to assist Fr. Andrew in getting to know our parishioners. Due to safety guidelines, we are not permitted to distribute nametags at this time. Feel free to keep these simple or get creative and use a picture if you'd like.
Preschool Update
If all goes as planned, St. Andrew by the Bay Preschool will start on schedule in the fall! Our first day of classes will be Tuesday, September 8. We are going to be changing things up a little to be in cooperation with social distancing regulations.
- Teachers will most likely wear masks all day, but definitely at drop-off and pick-up.
- Drop-off and pick-up will be via parking lot to limit the number of people in the building.
- Toys and surfaces will be cleaned multiple times a day.
- Children will practice standing with their arms out to their sides to keep distance between each other.
- Hand sanitizing stations have been installed in every classroom.
We will have spaces available in our MWT & T/Th 2s, T/Th 3s, and M-F 4’s. (These are all morning classes.)
Upcoming Dates:
August 26 – Orientation for parents new to the preschool, 6:30pm in the Upper Hall
August 27 – Classroom open houses
September 8 – First day of school for T/Th classes
September 9 – First day of school for MWF classes
